On December 20, 2024, a meeting of the Board of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

A report on the activities of the Commission for the 2024 as well as Action Plan for 2025 were presented at the meeting.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin during his speech noted that the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon pays special attention to the values acquired by Tajiks throughout the history and presenting it to the world community. In this regard, the National Commission in cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies of the country have carried out a number of important activities during the period of 2024.

It should be noted that the National Commission is taking measures to further popularize and disseminate the unique national culture in the international arena.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin emphasized that culture is the heritage of our ancestors and directs today’s generation to make efforts not only for its preservation, but also for its protection, development and promotion.

It was also noted about the works on preparation of nomination files for inscribing in the UNESCO registers.

On November 25, 2024, on the occasion of the National Flag Day, a solemn event was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event began with the performance by Tajik diplomats of the national anthem of the Republic of Tajikistan and the demonstration of the national flag, and then the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin made a speech about the historical significance of the national flag, which symbolizes good luck and independence, the indestructible unity of all classes of society, friendship, equality, and steadfastness for the prosperity of our beloved Motherland.

The Minister quoted the words of the leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, who said: “Our national flag has a colorful history dating back thousands of years. History has proved that the Aryan peoples were among the first in the world to create a flag ceremony,” adding that the celebration of the National Flag is one of the holidays that today represent Tajikistan as an independent, cultured and civilized state in the world.

Continuing his speech, S. Muhriddin emphasized to the Tajik diplomats: “During international negotiations and meetings, we must realize with pride and national identity and a high sense of responsibility that we represent Tajikistan under the national flag. Every time the national flag is raised in honor of the victories of the athletes of Tajikistan, all residents of the country and Tajiks abroad are proud and inspired by a sense of patriotism.”

It was emphasized that, along with other sacred national symbols, paying tribute to the state flag and showing respect for it is the conscientious duty of every citizen of Tajikistan and every Tajik. “The state flag is a symbol of the state’s survival, unity and solidarity, national identity, and the best means of educating adolescents and young people in the spirit of pride in national statehood and the preservation of the historical and cultural values ​​of the Tajiks,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan concluded.

On June 5, 2024 in Beirut President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Lebanon Nabih Mostapha Berry received Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Lebanon Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan among the various embassies in the Swiss Confederation, also participated in the Festival by showcasing traditional foods and folk crafts of Tajikistan.

On March 14, 2023, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, at the initiative of the Permanent Delegations of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, a solemn festive event took place on the occasion of celebration of the International Day of Navruz.

 

 

 

 

 

The gathering was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions, managing staff and representatives of UNESCO Secretariat, ministries and agencies, scientific and cultural circles of France, as well as Tajik diaspora.

The Permanent Delegation of Tajikistan to UNESCO arranged an exposition with national Tajik dishes, promotional materials and photographs of Tajikistan.

A cultural program by masters of arts was presented for the guests of the event.
